Metal detector not working
Near a burried collectible item the metal detector is not flashing or making a sound, Wild Flowers are not visible. Lost Jewelry and Family Hairlooms are not visible with Eagle Eye.
Fix on Console
This solution will reset your settings back to default!
- Quit the game then reload.
- On PS hold immediately

- On XBOX hold immediately

. - Sign in. Select ONLINE, then press play to load to a free roam session.
Fix on PC
- Open the folder "C:\Users\ACCOUNT\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles\ACCOUNT-NUMBER"
- Delete the file "Player"
- Launch the game and when prompted to sync saves, choose "NO". You can change this setting later.
- If the error persists open again the folder "C:\Users\ACCOUNT\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Profiles\ACCOUNT-NUMBER"
- Delete all files except "KeyMappings".
- Open the folder "C:\Users\ACCOUNT\Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings".
- Delete all sga files. SGA files are game graphics cache files that contain data about graphics, settings and scripts of the game.
- Launch the game and when prompted to sync saves, choose "NO". You can change this setting later.
Using Disk Cleanup to delete DirectX Shader Cache
- Search for "disk cleanup" in the Taskbar search box.
- Click on the search result.
- Select the C drive and click the OK button.
- Select the DirectX Shader Cache checkbox.
- Click the OK button.
Using Windows Settings to clear DirectX Shader Cache
- Press
+
to open Windows Settings. - Go to System » Storage.
- Click on the Temporary files menu.
- Tick the DirectX Shader Cache checkbox.
- Click the Remove files button.
