Add a command line argument

Add the command -ignorepipelinecache in the launch argument to prevent the game from using the "sga_ / pipelineCache" files.

Rockstar Games Launcher

1. Click on the Settings button on the top to view the options.
2. Select Red Dead Redemption under "My installed games".
3. Scroll down to launch arguments.
4. Insert -ignorepipelinecache in the launch argument.
5. Launch the game and check if the error persists.

Steam Launcher

1. Open the Library, right-click on Red Dead Redemption, and select Properties.
2. Insert -ignorepipelinecache in the launch argument, close the Window.
3. Launch the game and check if the error persists.

Epic Games Launcher

1. Open the Library, right-click Red Dead Redemption, and select Manage.
2. Insert -ignorepipelinecache in the launch argument, close the Windows.
3. Launch the game and check if the error persists.

Restore the graphics API

An API (Application Programming Interface) is a way for two or more computer programs to communicate with each other.

1. Open the folder "Documents\Rockstar Games\Red Dead Redemption 2\Settings\".
2. Open the file "system.xml" and make a backup.
3. Find the "advancedGraphics" section.
4. Locate the line with "<API>kSettingAPI_Vulkan</API>".
5. Change "Vulkan" to "DX12" and save the file.
6. Launch the game and check if the error persists.

Delete DirectX Shader Cache in Windows 10

DirectX Shader Cache are files created by the graphics system which can speed up application load time and improve performance. If deleted, they get regenerated automatically when needed.

Using Disk Cleanup to delete DirectX Shader Cache

1. Search for disk cleanup in the Taskbar search box.
2. Click on the search result.
3. Select the C drive and click the OK button.
4. Select the DirectX Shader Cache checkbox.
5. Click the OK button.

Using Windows Settings to clear DirectX Shader Cache

1. Press Win+I to open Windows Settings.
2. Go to System > Storage.
3. Click on the Temporary files menu.
4. Tick the DirectX Shader Cache checkbox.
5. Click the Remove files button.
